Powers Aid
On October 24th, Trinity joined with St. Joe’s for our annual Powers Aid Walk-a-thon to benefit the Dick Powers '63 Scholarship Fund. This tradition has provided much-needed assistance to Trinity families. So far, we have raised over $62,000 surpassing our fundraising goal of $50,000!
The day of the walk was a comfortable Fall day. Our students enjoyed getting some fresh air as they walked the cross-country trail around Derryfield Park several times before going inside for Raffle Palooza. Denise Brewitt, our Director of Advancement served as the Raffle Auctioneer and Master of Ceremonies for this event. Raffle Palooza is a new addition to our Powers Aid Walk-a-thon, a fun way to get our students excited about fundraising in the hopes of being entered to win gift cards, crafts, studded animals, water bottles, roseries, & more!
Students were only entered into the raffles if they donated $150 or more. Everyone waited with bated breath to see if their name was selected for one of the raffles. If selected, they would pick one of the wrapped gifts on the stage. This raffle had a Yankee Swap twist to it, where a second student was then selected and they would also pick a gift. The first student selected would unwrap their gift first and then choose if they wanted to keep it or trade it for the wrapped gift the other student had.
It was a successful day overall and one that will allow many families next year to receive Financial Aid to supplement their tuition payments. We are continuing to collect money for this fund.
